What is the front main eye for 52" springs?
This is a heavy duty replacement front spring hanger that allows you to use a 52" rear Chevy leaf spring. Swapping rear 52" springs to the front of your truck gains you more flex and a softer ride! An average stock 52" rear Chevy spring will net you around 4" lift above stock (with the overloads removed). There are many variations of the Chevy 52" spring for different spring rates.

What are the benefits of installing Hogback Fab's front main eye for 52" springs?
Lift, strength, flex, and ride quality!
A standard stock 52" spring will net you around 4" of lift above stock, a great way to get height without stiff lift springs. There are so many variations of 52" springs out there that you will be able to find one with a good spring rate for your build!.
The longer 52" spring results in way more flex than the stock leaf pack. More flex results in better off road capability and on road comfort.
These beefy brackets are strong enough to handle anything you throw at them! There are multiple bolt holes so you can adjust position and shackle angle!
We also upgrade the mounting hardware to 1/2" which results in way stronger clamping force! It is also designed for a 5/8" bolt for the spring eye for even more strength! Note: may need to ream out stock rivet holes.

How easy is it to install the front main eye?
Very easy!
  1. Safely lift/jack truck up and put on jack stands. Make sure to use proper safety gear and equip
  2. Locate the front main eye hanger and remove leaf spring from it.
  3. Remove rivets holding shackle hanger on frame. This can be done super fast with an air chisel. Another method is using a cutoff wheel to cut an in the rivet. Then take a hand chisel to the heads to remove them.
  4. Bolt in new main eye hanger torque bolts to 60 FT/LBS
  5. Bolt leaf spring back into new main eye hanger
  6. After driving 100 miles make sure to re-torque bolts

Note for 2x4 to 4x4 conversions: Remove stock core support/body mount hanger. Line up new main eye hanger where stock body mount hanger was. Mark/drill new holes. Assembly is same as above from there.

Note: Front bumper brackets may need to be modified, but its worth it for a much stronger hanger and longer spring!

Note: With the more suspension travel, crossover steering will be needed.

Note: Longer shackles will be needed. Since there are so many variations of spring we recommend playing around with different lengths to find one perfect for your setup.

Note: Majority of 52" Chevy springs come with a 3" wide bushing assembly that uses a 9/16" bolt. New bushings will need to be sourced to work with Dodge 5/8" bolt.
