What are the 72-93 Dodge Rear Shackles?
On a truck that uses leaf springs for the rear suspension there are two points where the spring is connected to the frame, a fixed point and a pivoting point with a shackle. On these trucks the fixed point is at the front of the spring and the shackle point is at the rear of the spring. The Hogback fab shackle  replaces that wimpy stock one with a much beefier unit!

What are the benefits of the Hogback Fab 72-93 Dodge Rear Shackles?
The stock shackle tends to fold sideways over the years and in most cases rust out! That is why we came out with a much stronger unit that's powder coated. The Hogback fab rear shackle isn't only beefier metal wise but it uses a larger 1.5" diameter bushing with a 5/8" grade 8 bolt and also a 5/8" grade 8 bolt at the leaf spring side!! Talk about strength! 
NOTE: If your truck didn't come with 5/8" hardware, the bolt holes will need to be reamed out to 5/8".

How easy is it to install the Hogback Fab front shackle hanger?
Very easy!
  1. Safely lift/jack truck up and put on jack stands. Make sure to use proper safety gear and equipment
  2. Remove leaf spring bolts
  3. Remove old shackles
  4. Bolt in new shackles
  5. Bolt in leaf springs back in the truck, 5/8 bolts are to be torqued to 80 FT/LBS. The rest is reverse of removal. (If your mounts are 1/2" they will need to be drilled out to 5/8". Our brackets all come 5/8")
  6. After driving 100 miles make sure to re-torque bolts

HOG TIP:  We carry replacement lifted spring hangers (great for removing blocks) all HD 5/8". They can be found here:
