Why do you need the 2wd-4wd Conversion Engine Crossmember?

The stock 2wd engine crossmember is tied into the front suspension. So when you remove all the 2wd goodies you no longer have engine mounts or a engine crossmember. With our easy HD bolt in option you can get your project underway and have that engine in! Great for use with leaf spring swaps or our Super duty axle conversion

Why use the Hogback Fab 2wd-4wd Engine Crossmember?

Our crossmember bolts into factory holes on the frame making it easy to locate. Being .25" thick it is way stronger than a factory 4x4 crossmember. Comes powder coated ready to install instead of using some old rusty frame pieces. Our Crossmember captures a lot of the frame creating a much more ridged structure. Works with our motor mounts or stock ones.

How easy is it to install the Adjustable Squarebody Engine Crossmember?

Very easy.

Remove the stock engine crossmember, this involves removing the rivets that hold them in place. You can cut/grind them or drill through the rivets.

Drill out existing holes to 1/2".

Attach the small bracket into the 45 degree motor mount pad, there will be two holes on our bracket that match up to two holes in the front of the motor mount pad. There are two more bolts (one in the bottom of the frame and one in the side) that attach this bracket to the frame. Leave all bolts loose, repeat for the other side of the frame.

The crossmember bolts between the two brackets you just installed using supplied 1/2" bolts. There is adjustability front/back, use what looks like it will work best for your application (you can always change/move it later). Leave bolts loose.

There is one long 3/8" bolt that goes through the motor mount, through the 45 degree pad on the frame and finally through our bracket (the long slotted hole).

Torque 3/8" bolts to 25 ft. lbs.
Torque 7/16" bolts to 38 ft. lbs.
Torque 1/2" bolts to 60 ft. lbs.
